Wonder what it’s like living in Fulham? With it becoming a new favourite hotspot for many Londoners, Fulham started attracting a lot of attention over the past few years. Here at Propertalis we want to give a warm welcome to our viewers who are either planning to move or are becoming new residents of this neighbourhood with our ultimate Fulham Area Guide that will answer all of your questions.

    Where is Fulham located?

Fulham is conveniently situated in between Chelsea and Putney, within the London Borough of Fulham & Hammersmith. This neighbourhood has easy access to most areas and the centre, which is ideal for those who need to travel on a daily basis. And with those stunning views of the River Thames, Fulham’s location couldn’t have been more perfect!

    So who lives in Fulham?

It is a great neighbourhood for families, young professionals and couples. If you want to find out why Fulham is considered to be one of the most favoured places for the suburban living in London, stick with us for a little longer!

What are the different travel options in Fulham?

Fulham is very well-connected in terms of transport – there are 3 tube stations stretched along the neighbourhood. These include Fulham Broadway, Parsons Green and Putney Bridge. And the best thing about it is that with the speedy District Line you will already be in Central London in 20 minutes! Alternatively, Piccadilly Line connects you to Heathrow for your further travels abroad, and the bus routes provide you with quick links to Fulham’s famous neighbours – Knightsbridge and Chelsea.

What do the properties in Fulham look like?

Interesting Fact from Propertalis: Fulham has one of the highest numbers of Victorian properties in London. Its streets are filled with sophisticated Victorian and Edwardian houses, just like in your favourite movies. And we mean this quite literally because Harry Potter’s star Daniel Redcliffe actually grew up in Fulham!

But don’t feel left out if you’re a fan of contemporary buildings – there are many modern properties in SW6. For instance, the developments near the river at Imperial Wharf are becoming particularly popular among young professionals.

So to put your mind at ease, we can ensure you there is a wide variety of properties in Fulham for sale and rent, all of which will satisfy your individual needs!

    Is Fulham safe?

Fulham has an above average violent and property crime rate, which attracts many families to move into this area. As a result, this neighbourhood is considered to be peaceful and very safe, compared to Central London.

    What about Fulham’s lifestyle?

Fulham has been gentrified after the 80s, which made this neighbourhood very culturally diverse. Imagine yourself being at the heart of cosmopolitan paradise, associated with trendiness, unique style and cordiality. So we’d say the perfect description for Fulham’s lifestyle would be “serene yet vibrant at the same time”, making it an incredible choice for the aforementioned couples, young professionals and families.

Where can I eat in Fulham?

This is where Fulham can proudly boast its well-deserved achievements. With it being home to 204 restaurants, two of which are Michelin-starred, you will never run out of choices of where to eat in Fulham!

Let’s start with the famous Harwood Arms: this gastropub is the only pub in London that has a Michelin Star so it’s definitely worth checking it out! And don’t miss out on the breathtaking views from the River Cafe, which earned its Michelin Star for serving the best Italian food in town. P.S. if you fancy seeing London’s A-Listers, this is the place you should definitely be at!

Moving onto another award-winning pub –  The White Horse is well-known by the locals for its historic past. With it being built in 1712, this iconic spot has attracted many Londoners to Parsons Green in an attempt to enjoy themselves while travelling back in time. Alternatively, Duke on the Green is a pub with an extensive history too: it was built in the 19th century, resulting in the building being Grade ll listed. Make sure to try their delicious roasts and you will thank us later!

Now, onto eateries! Claude’s Kitchen is one of the greatest restaurants in Fulham. Thanks to its flavoursome British dishes and its diverse menu that changes every week, many residents rated it as their new favourite restaurant!

Another distinctive spot in Fulham is Jak’s – a trendy underground eatery, which is perfect for a lively night out. And if you’re craving some comfort food, Manuka Kitchen is a very popular local restaurant for brunch!

What is there to do in Fulham?

The first thing we should mention is that Fulham is known for being a famous getaway from city life with its numerous parks. Indulge yourself in a breathtaking scenery of Eel Brook Common, Parsons Green and Bishops Park, whether you’re a nature or fitness lover. And did we mention that most parks in Fulham have been accredited with the Green Flag status? This particularly highlights the high standards of parks’ cleanliness and their outstanding facilities.

But wait, there’s more to this neighbourhood’s leisure and sports dedication! There are two renowned football stadiums in Fulham: Stamford Bridge and Craven Cottage. Stamford Bridge stadium has been home to Chelsea FC since its creation in 1905 while Craven Cottage is the oldest stadium in London, proudly representing Fulham FC. Both of them offer stadium tours so don’t miss out on this unforgettable experience. Hurlingham Club is also one of the most honourable sports clubs in the world, probably because Its most notable members include the Royal Family… So all the sports lovers, we think we found your dream area to live in!

If you want to dive into Fulham’s culture, then Fulham Palace is definitely a must-see attraction for you. Be prepared to spend the whole day there because this historic house is definitely worth your time! Discover the botanical garden and the museum inside to learn more about the home of the Bishops of London. And if you’re into contemporary Art and Design, then we recommend visiting Zest Gallery for fantastic glass art courses and Design Centre at Chelsea Harbour for some interior inspiration.

One of the most well-known secondary schools in Fulham is London Oratory. It is an incredible private school with an outstanding OFSTED rating, which is why the former Prime Minister Tony Blair chose to send his kids here. Described by local parents as an absolute “dream”, Fulham Prep school also offers an excellent education for pupils aged 4-18. Lady Margaret is a perfect choice for girls, who are interested in Maths and Computing, and L’Ecole Marie d’Orliac always welcomes International children who would benefit from bilingual studies.
