As a parent deeply invested in providing the best education for our children, I am thrilled about the upcoming Summer Fair at The Hurlingham Club. This event is a crucial guide for London parents navigating the complexities of 11+ and 13+ independent school options.

The Fair presents a unique opportunity to explore leading London independent day schools. But not just this. It’s also the best place to consider educational avenues outside the capital and delve into the choice of boarding schools. Specifically the Fair’s talks program, individualised consultations and discussions on bursaries are incredibly appealing.

If you’re looking to introduce your little ones to the beauty of the French language and culture, the immersive language program at Et Patati Patata might just be the perfect fit for your family. The school invites young minds to embrace the beauty of the French language and culture in small, engaging groups led by native French teachers.

With limited places per class, the curriculum spans from preschool to secondary school, providing a comprehensive journey through the French language and curriculum. The sessions, held throughout the year in term intivals, cater to different age groups, ensuring tailored learning experiences.

From Classe Perrault-Fontaine for 3-5-year-olds, igniting a fascination for French traditions, to Classe Marcel Pagnol catering to 7-10-year-olds, there’s something to suit all ages. Diving into grammar and literature, each class is crafted to foster linguistic and cultural fluency. I’m thrilled at the opportunity for our children to experience a vibrant and diverse linguistic environment right here in our neighbourhood. The program is not just about language learning; it’s about fostering cultural appreciation, expanding horizons and embracing the rich tapestry of languages within our community.

Fulham Women FC

January – April

For me, taking my family to witness the Fulham Women FC in action is an opportunity to instil valuable lessons in my children. Specifically about dedication, teamwork and the strength of determination. These incredible athletes showcase not just skill on the field, but resilience and passion. This resonates deeply with our family values.

The atmosphere at the stadium is electric, buzzing with excitement and fervour. As we cheer alongside fellow fans, we become part of a supportive community rallying behind these talented athletes. Moreover, having my children witness strong, empowered women competing at such a high level is immensely inspiring. It sparks conversations at home about dreams, perseverance and the endless possibilities for their own aspirations.

As a parent, I’m passionate about nurturing my children’s curiosity and connection with history. That’s why the interactive family tour is an absolute delight. Step into a bygone era as everyone explores the nooks and crannies of this historic gem. An opportunity to wander through its time-honoured halls, uncover hidden tales and then venture outdoors to enjoy the beautifully kept gardens. Challenges await. The atmosphere is alive with history and there’s the chance to dress up in period costumes too. Making the past come alive for everyone in the family is a wonderful experience for all.

Little Green Fingers Workshops

The Little Green Fingers workshop at Fulham Palace brings together our dedication to fostering a deep connection between our children and the natural world that surrounds us. This workshop is tailored specifically for the curious minds of our little ones, aged 3 and above. It’s designed to ignite their fascination with the life cycle of plants. Therefore, it’s more than just an educational opportunity. This hands-on, immersive experience unveils the wonders of nature in the picturesque setting of the charming walled garden vinery.

The Young Archaeologists’ Club

The Young Archaeologists’ Club is an incredible opportunity for young history enthusiasts. For children aged 8 to 16, they get to immerse themselves in a journey through time. Guided by the expertise of community archaeologist, Alexis, they start with an expedition to the South London Botanical Institute, exploring the significance of plants in history. Secondly, they unveil the intriguing technique of facial reconstruction and move on to many more exciting things. Each session is a gateway to unlocking the mysteries of our past. Consequently, children are engaged in deciphering animal bones and mastering the art of recording techniques as they become active participants in uncovering the secrets of our heritage.

The Oxford Cambridge Boat Race

Dating back to 1829, it’s a testament to tradition, excellence and the spirit of amateur sportsmanship. Also referred to as the Gemini Boat Race, this is an event marked in the calendar by families everywhere.

The Boat Race is a culmination of academic dedication and physical prowess. This is where student athletes from Oxford and Cambridge universities showcase their elite skills in a rigorous sporting endeavour. The event’s setting along the picturesque 4.25-mile stretch of the Thames in West London provides a stunning backdrop for families to enjoy. Immersing themselves in British tradition and witnessing a display of athletic excellence is a forever memory. The sheer energy and passion along the riverbanks, with hundreds of thousands of spectators cheering, creates an electric atmosphere that’s infectious.

The Boat Race captivates millions worldwide through televised broadcasts, offering our children a chance to witness a historic event with a global audience. Being present at the riverbanks makes this a lasting memory for them.
